10 milestones Rohit Sharma could achieve in India v West Indies three-match ODI series

India will begin a three-match ODI series against the West Indies on September 27, 2026, with the opening game scheduled at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The series represents Rohit Sharma’s return to ODI cricket and provides him with an opportunity to chase several career milestones.

The three-match series will also give India another chance to prepare for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Shubman Gill will captain the side, while experienced players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja are set to return to the ODI setup. Several regulars will be absent from the squad because of Asian Games commitments, a factor affecting the selection for the Thiruvananthapuram tour.

Among those unavailable due to the Asian Games are Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel. The four players named are currently in Japan. Their non-availability has been cited as the reason for several customary India selections being left out of this series.

Rohit arrives at the series having scored a century in his last ODI, against England at Lord’s, where he made 138 off 110 balls. That innings made him the first Indian batter to record an ODI hundred at Lord’s. He now has three matches in which to add further records to his ODI career.

Rohit is expected to join the Indian squad on Thursday as the players assemble in Thiruvananthapuram. The first ODI will be played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The three-match ODI series will begin on September 27, 2026.
