15-year-old Yugan Sakthivel Muthukumaar wins Trap Men Junior gold at ISSF Junior World Cup Shotgun

India’s 15-year-old Yugan Sakthivel Muthukumaar won the Trap Men Junior gold at the ISSF Junior World Cup Shotgun on Friday. He hit 27 targets in the final to secure the title.
Yugan reached the medal round after posting a qualification total of 114 across five rounds (22, 22, 24, 23, 23), finishing tied for sixth. He earned the last qualification berth by defeating Spain’s Eduard Salichs 2-1 in a shoot-off.
Starting the final from sixth position, Yugan progressed through the elimination stages and struck decisive hits in the closing sequences to finish ahead of the field. His performance in the latter part of the final proved decisive in securing the victory.
Spain’s Jose Barrero finished fourth with 15 hits. Italy’s Andrea Diana, who had topped qualification with a score of 120, placed fifth in the final with 11 targets.
Italy’s Francesco Tanfoglio took silver with 26 hits and fellow Italian Simone Roncen claimed bronze with 21. Yugan’s gold was India’s first medal of the meet.
