Panache Digital Games has confirmed that 1666: Amsterdam, directed by Patrice Désilets, will enter Early Access on PC via Steam on August 25, 2026, with the Steam listing showing a 19:40 UTC unlock. The studio said the Early Access build will be a work in progress while a substantial portion of the game is made available to players.

Developed by Panache Digital Games and led by Patrice Désilets, the title has been described by the publisher as one of the most anticipated games of 2026 and is noted in the announcement for its supernatural powers, witchcraft, exploration and puzzle-solving set in a dark historical environment. Panache posted on Twitter: "This is the moment we've been building toward since the announcement: getting the game intro into your hands, hearing what you think, and now building the rest of 1666: Amsterdam together.Wishlist now so you don't miss it on Steam and… pic.twitter.com/HiRhBrMjJO" A free playable prologue is available on Steam to introduce the game's historical world, gameplay mechanics and story.

Early Access will be distributed exclusively on PC via Steam; the only way to access the Early Access build is to purchase 1666: Amsterdam on Steam when it goes on sale, then download and install the build to play. The free prologue on Steam allows players to experience part of the game before deciding to purchase the Early Access version.

Panache has emphasized that the Early Access edition is not the final product: while it will include a large portion of the game, the developer plans to add more content, features and improvements over time. The studio warned that fans "might have to wait longer for the 1.0 full launch," indicating the Early Access window will precede the official final release.

To avoid missing the Early Access launch, Panache encouraged players to wishlist the game on Steam; the studio's announcement reiterated that Steam is the platform for Early Access.
