30-to-1 outsider Buddy wins Race2win Foundation Hyderabad Deccan Derby
Buddy, a 30-to-1 outsider ridden by Mukesh Kumar, won the Race2win Foundation Hyderabad Deccan Derby (Gr.1) at Hyderabad on Sunday (Oct. 4), delivering a surprise in the blue riband of the Hyderabad Monsoon Races. The victory provided trainer Magan Singh Parmar with his first Deccan Derby success.
Mukesh Kumar sent Buddy (by Dali-Dangal) to the front soon after the start and the pair set the race tempo throughout. Entering the home straight Buddy continued to travel well and held off late challenges from Moonveil and Mahogany to prevail comfortably. The winning owners are M/s. Subodh Kumar Ananthula & Prabhakar Chowdary Tripuraneni.
The official result listed BUDDY (Dali-Dangal) (Mukesh Kumar) 1, Moonveil (Sanus Par Aquam-Electra) (Trevor) 2, Mahogany (Phoenix Tower-Maisha) (Vivek G) 3 and Quattro (Lord Admiral-Couleur Rouge) (Ashad Asbar) 4, with margins 2, Neck and 1. RANI RUCKUS (G. Naresh) captured the Bangalore Turf Club Trophy (1,600m) in 1m, 41.12s, finishing ahead of Sunny Day and Secret Option; margins 2-1/2, 4-3/4 and 2 and a winning payout of ₹20 (w). PERCEPTION (Akshay Kumar) won the Turf Authorities of India Trophy (1,600m) in 1m, 41.41s, with Uchchaihshravas second and Star Of Night third; margins 1-1/2, Neck and 1-1/2 and payout ₹13 (w). ONE NATION (P. Trevor) took the Madras Race Club Trophy (1,800m) in 1m, 53.64s, beating Pristine Glory and Pledge by a neck and a neck; payout ₹40 (w).
AYUSHMAN (Afroz Khan) prevailed in the Royal Calcutta Turf Club Trophy (1,200m) in 1m, 12.10s with Star Of Opera and High Speed Dive filling the placings; winning margin a head and payout ₹63 (w). EK (Akshay Kumar) won the Royal Western India Turf Club Trophy (1,100m) in 1m, 7.02s ahead of Catchme If You Can and Dubai Touch; margin 1, Head and Neck and payout ₹27 (w). In the Mysore Race Club Trophy (Div. I) (1,200m), DONTBLOCKMYWAY (Sonu Kumar) finished first in 1m, 14.19s with Excalibur second; Flare (Afroz K up) was planted in the stalls and did not participate, and the payout was ₹48 (w).
