Aaryavir Sehwag impresses in second U19 ODI as India post 341 in Rajkot

Aaryavir Sehwag scored a composed 47 as India U19 faced Australia U19 in the second U19 ODI at Rajkot on 2026-09-21. India batted first in the match.

Aaryavir, the son of Virender Sehwag, adopted a measured approach at the crease rather than the aggressive style associated with his father and helped India navigate a challenging new-ball period. He opened with captain Lakshya Raichandani and the pair compiled a 46-run opening stand before Raichandani was dismissed for 11 off 29 deliveries.

After Raichandani's departure, VK Vineeth joined Aaryavir and the two added more than 50 runs for the second wicket while keeping the innings on course. Aaryavir struck nine boundaries during his innings but was run out three runs short of a maiden Youth ODI fifty.

Aaryavir's innings contrasted with his showing in the series opener, a rain-reduced fixture cut to 20 overs per side, when he scored 28 off 26 balls with five boundaries as India edged Australia by seven runs. In that first match, Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan had also made a notable contribution.

Vice-captain Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan converted his form into a big score in Rajkot, remaining the only centurion with 122 off 100 balls while finding the boundary regularly and accelerating in the latter stages. VK Vineeth supported the innings with 87 before being dismissed in the 40th over.

India finished their innings at 341 in Rajkot, with Yashbardhan's 122 and Vineeth's 87 the main contributors to the total.

The contest at Rajkot was the second U19 ODI of the series.
