Abhishek Sharma hits 30-ball century, fastest in T20 between full members
Abhishek Sharma scored a 30-ball century — the fastest in a T20 international between two full-member nations — for India against Afghanistan in Delhi on 17 September 2026, and the innings was the third-fastest in T20 internationals and joint fifth-fastest in all T20s.
The 30-ball effort bettered the previous fastest hundred by a full-member nation, Finn Allen's 33-ball century against South Africa at this year's T20 World Cup, but it was not Abhishek's quickest century in the format overall; he hit a 28-ball ton for Punjab against Meghalaya in Indian domestic cricket in 2024. The knock in Delhi was Abhishek's third T20 international century and the 10th hundred of his whole T20 career.
The 26-year-old finished on 108 from 34 balls, striking nine fours and 11 sixes, and reached three figures in the ninth over when India were 132-0. He scored 96 of his first 100 runs in boundaries and 102 of his 108 runs came in boundaries; the only non-boundary scores were a single to reach his hundred, another single in the previous over and a two in the third.
Abhishek attacked Afghanistan's pace bowlers with his pull shot and drove the spinners down the ground, helping India to 100 inside the powerplay. After he was caught behind off the bowling of Rashid Khan, the hosts added a further 79 runs in the remaining 10.1 overs.
India finished 221-7 in their 20 overs, with Samson contributing 50 off 35 balls and Omarzai taking 2-27.
The innings came in India's third T20 against Afghanistan in Delhi on 17 September 2026, and it established the fastest T20 international century recorded between two full-member sides.
