Deepti Sharma ended a nine years and five months wait for a second ODI century by scoring an unbeaten 106 against Zimbabwe in the second ODI in Vadodara on Sunday, October 25, 2026. She reached the landmark batting in the lower middle order.

Her previous ODI hundred was an innings of 188 against Ireland in Potchefstroom, South Africa, on May 15, 2017, when she was 19. The interval between the two hundreds was 3,450 days. That gap is the second-longest between ODI centuries for any batter; South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp holds the record with 3,867 days between her first and second ODI hundreds, scored in 2013 and 2023. Deepti’s wait is also the second-longest between centuries in women’s international cricket, behind Molly Hide’s 5,117 days between Test hundreds in 1935 and 1949.

Deepti’s maiden ODI century came as a dominant 188 off 160 balls, which included 27 fours and two sixes. She opened alongside Punam Raut and the pair shared a record 320-run opening partnership. India posted 358 and secured a 249-run victory in that match.

In Vadodara on Sunday, India lost early wickets and Deepti helped rebuild the innings with Harmanpreet Kaur; the pair added a 153-run partnership. Deepti reached her fifty off 37 balls with a sweep for four. She continued to attack Zimbabwe’s bowlers, employing effective sweep shots against spin, finding boundaries through the off side and using her feet to create scoring opportunities.

She brought up her hundred off 83 balls in the final over, sweeping Tendai Makusha for four before raising her arms in celebration as her teammates applauded. Deepti finished unbeaten on 106 off 86 balls, striking 15 boundaries. Her century made her the first Indian woman to score an ODI hundred while batting at No. 6 or lower, surpassing Richa Ghosh’s previous record of 94 for the highest individual score by an Indian woman at those positions.

India posted a formidable 328 for six after opting to bat first. The total was powered by Deepti’s unbeaten century and Harmanpreet’s hundred.
