Ajit Agarkar, who served as chairman of India’s senior men’s selection committee from July 2023, oversaw a period in which India won multiple major trophies, including the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Barbados. During his time in the role India also claimed the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Indian cricket registered a run of strong results and implemented notable changes to squad and support staff in the years covered by Agarkar’s tenure. The team performed well across ICC tournaments in that span and added continental and multi-sport honours. Agarkar was part of the selection structure that guided those selections and campaigns.

India completed the 2024 T20 World Cup unbeaten, winning every match en route to the title. The final saw India defeat South Africa in Barbados. That triumph ended a long wait for an ICC trophy for the national side.

India followed the 2024 success by winning the 2025 Champions Trophy. That victory added another ICC title to the list of honours achieved while Agarkar chaired the selection committee. The result maintained the team’s sequence of wins in major tournaments during this period.

The campaign peaked in 2026 when India won the T20 World Cup on home soil. That victory made India the first men’s side to win successive T20 World Cups. The 2026 title is recorded among the three ICC trophies secured during Agarkar’s tenure.

India also secured two Asia Cup titles during this period: the 2023 edition in the ODI format and the 2025 edition in the T20 format. The men’s T20 team won Asian Games gold in 2023 in Hangzhou under Ruturaj Gaikwad. They repeated the gold-medal success in 2026 under Shreyas Iyer.

Agarkar’s spell as chairman concluded on October 4, 2026. During the wider span of his involvement with the senior men’s side, India had also reached the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup but lost to Australia in Ahmedabad.
