FC Bengaluru United beat Mohammedan SC 4-3 at the Bangalore Football Stadium in Bengaluru in the Indian Football League 2026-27 on Friday, 6 November 2026, with substitute Akshunna Tyagi scoring in the 91st minute. The stoppage-time header secured FC Bengaluru United’s first win of the IFL season.

Bengaluru raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes through headers from Marat Tareck and Gautam A. Virwani, before Maharabam Maxion reduced the deficit in the 26th minute for Mohammedan. Ngangbam Naocha Singh restored Bengaluru’s two-goal advantage with a 53rd-minute header, Lalthankima halved the margin five minutes later and Lalremsanga Fanai levelled in the 78th minute.

The host side pressed early and tested Mohammedan’s goalkeeper Nikhil Deka from set pieces; Jojo Zaihmingthanga was fouled on the edge of the box and Dhruv Sharma’s free-kick was kept out by Deka. Jojo earlier had a headed chance saved before creating the opener from a corner, Marat Tareck rising to head home the delivery for what the club recorded as their first-ever goal in the Indian Football League.

Bengaluru made it 2-0 when Dhruv Sharma’s curling corner found Gautam A. Virwani, who headed into the top corner. Mohammedan responded through sustained pressure, with Lalremsanga Fanai involved in attacks that produced an error from FC Bengaluru United captain Abdul Hannan; Yash Chickro’s blocked shot led to Maharabam Maxion converting the rebound.

Nikhil Deka produced a series of saves in the first half, denying attempts from Maikol Herrera and Lalramdinsanga Ralte as Bengaluru registered seven corners before the break and went into half-time 2-1 ahead. Early in the second period Chunsaba Bariam struck the underside of the bar and the ball ricocheted off the diving goalkeeper before staying out, and shortly after Dhruv Sharma’s looping cross was met by right back Ngangbam Naocha Singh to make it 3-1.

Mohammedan reduced the deficit again when Lalremsanga’s initial effort was saved by Bengaluru keeper Manjunath Hirekurbar but the rebound reached an unmarked Lalthankima at the penalty spot, who fired in the 58th-minute goal. Marat Tareck later missed a chance to extend the lead, and Mohammedan drew level when substitute Jeremy Laldinpuia’s cross from the right was met by Lalremsanga Fanai, who headed into the top corner in the 78th minute.

The winner came in stoppage time from a set-piece routine: Lalramdinsanga Ralte took a short corner and crossed to the near post where substitute Akshunna Tyagi diverted a header toward the far post and past Nikhil Deka to complete the 4-3 scoreline. The seven goals arrived from Marat Tareck (15'), Gautam A. Virwani (19'), Ngangbam Naocha Singh (53') and Akshunna Tyagi (90+1') for FC Bengaluru United; Maharabam Maxion (26'), Lalthankima (58') and Lalremsanga Fanai (78') scored for Mohammedan SC.

Following their first win, FC Bengaluru United sit 6th in the league with 3 points and a goal difference of 0, while Mohammedan SC have lost their second game in a row and remain without a victory this season.
