Al Fursan to take over Kerala Blasters; press conference in Kochi set for Sept 29 at 7:00 pm

Reports say Al Fursan Group, backed by the ruling Al Qasimi family of Sharjah, has agreed a deal for a 100% takeover of Kerala Blasters at a valuation of approximately 100-120 crores. The payment is to be completed within eight months and the first tranche has already been deposited, according to the reports. Sheikh Ahmed bin Faisal Al Qassimi is reportedly set to become a shareholder of the club and Mr Dunston Pereira, CEO of the Al Qassimi Group, is reported to be the key person behind the investment.

Operational responsibilities for the club this season are likely to fall to Ofioh Sporty India Private Limited, sources say. On September 24 a new private limited company, Project Blasters Private Limited, was registered in Bengaluru and a limited liability partnership, Project Blaster Partners LLP, was registered the following day. Al Fursan Group has presented Project Blasters as an initiative to support investments across the sports ecosystem, including sports academies, players, teams, clubs and athletes.

The Indian Super League 2026-27 season is scheduled to kick off on October 10, 2026; Kerala Blasters will begin their campaign away to Inter Kashi FC on October 11, 2026. The club’s first home match is listed for October 25, 2026 against Mumbai City FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, with the stadium confirmed as the team’s home ground despite reports about a potential shift to Malappuram or Calicut.
