Al-Qadsia SC v FC Goa: Player matchups to decide AFC Challenge League Group C decider

Al-Qadsia SC will host FC Goa at the Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium in Kuwait on October 23 at 11:00 PM IST in the final Group C game of the 2026-27 AFC Challenge League, with FC Goa needing a win to advance to the knockouts. A draw would not be sufficient for FC Goa because Al-Qadsia can clinch top spot with a draw, while a loss would eliminate Goa and leave them dependent on other results.
Al-Qadsia SC finished third in the 2025-26 Kuwaiti Premier League and missed out on the preliminary stage of the 2026-27 AFC Champions League Two, and they are unbeaten in the AFC Challenge League so far, having won both of their group games without conceding. FC Goa failed to win their preliminary-stage fixture in the AFC Champions League Two, began this AFC Challenge League campaign with a defeat and followed that with a dramatic victory over Fortis FC to keep their hopes alive. For Al-Qadsia a draw secures top spot in Group C, whereas even a loss would still leave them in contention to qualify as one of the best second-placed teams thanks to goal difference; FC Goa must win to overtake Qadsia on head-to-head, and a draw would leave their fate dependent on other results and whether competing teams fail to reach four points.
One key contest is between FC Goa attacker Chiki and Al-Qadsia centre-back Khaled Al-Fadhli. Chiki struggled in FC Goa’s opening game against Arkadag FK but has scored in three consecutive matches since: an equaliser against Chennaiyin FC, the goal that put Goa ahead versus Regar-TadAZ, and the winner against Fortis FC. Khaled Al-Fadhli, a 24-year-old centre-back, has been a commanding presence for Al-Qadsia in the AFC Challenge League; Qadsia have not conceded in their two games and Al-Fadhli’s towering frame, physical presence, pace and mobility have been highlighted as important to limiting opposition attackers and maintaining clean sheets.
Another matchup to watch is Al-Qadsia’s right-wing threat Al-Mushaifri against FC Goa’s wide defensive cover led by Ronney Wilson. Al-Mushaifri has scored three goals in seven appearances across all competitions, is one of the five foreign players registered by the club for the 2026/27 Kuwaiti Premier League and joined Al-Qadsia from the Czech Republic ahead of the season. He is noted for dribbling, pace and a tendency to drift into central areas to shoot, and Gouramangi Singh will look for Ronney Wilson to track him and cut off his crossing and passing lanes in the absence of Aakash Sangwan, who missed the previous game through injury. Ronney is not a natural full-back but has featured regularly in wide defensive areas over the last 18 months, having previously played as a centre-back; he is described as a good interceptor who can use physicality and defensive instincts against an attacker like Al-Mushaifri.
Sandesh Jhingan’s organisation of FC Goa’s backline and his handling of Hamza Khabba will be decisive given Goa’s defensive record in the competition so far. FC Goa are yet to keep a clean sheet this AFC Challenge League season despite Jhingan’s presence at the heart of defence, and lapses have led to dropped points — notably in the Regar-TadAZ match when they conceded twice in the final 10 minutes. Hamza Khabba scored once and provided two assists against Fortis FC and could have recorded another assist against Regar-TadAZ had Al-Rawahi been more clinical; he also has two assists in the Kuwaiti Premier League this season according to limited data available online. Khabba’s movement and physicality, and his tendency to drift out of the centre to create space for wide players, are cited as reasons Jhingan and his teammates must remain alert and organised throughout the match.
