Alderweireld, Keane, Young and Thomas Frank join Match of the Day as BBC launches four YouTube shows

On 19 August 2026, BBC Sport announced that Toby Alderweireld, Robbie Keane, Ashley Young and Thomas Frank will join Match of the Day as pundits and that four new programmes will launch on the BBC Football YouTube channel for the new men's football season.
The quartet of new YouTube formats will be FANS², The Truth About Football, Golden Goal and Football Hub, and the BBC Sport Fan Collective will bring together supporters representing all 20 Premier League clubs to emphasise fan experience. Former Brentford and Tottenham manager Thomas Frank appeared on BBC Sport's World Cup coverage during the summer. "Football means something different to every fan, and this season BBC Sport is putting those fans even more firmly at the heart of the game," said BBC director of sport Alex Kay-Jelski. "We're bringing together the unrivalled expertise of former players and managers with the passion, personality and perspectives of supporters to create a richer football experience wherever and however audiences follow the game."
BBC Radio 5 Live will broadcast live commentary of 209 Premier League matches this season. The station's output will also include coverage from the Champions League, Scottish Premiership, FA Cup, men's League Cup and international matches. Those 209 Premier League games will be carried across BBC Radio 5 Live, 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds.
On television and streaming, Match of the Day will continue its Premier League coverage while the BBC will broadcast two matches from each round of the FA Cup and one Bundesliga match every week on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app. Highlights and clips will be available from La Liga, Serie A and the Europa League, and from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland's international fixtures. BBC ALBA will have nineteen live Serie A matches with Gaelic and English co-commentary, and BBC Sport will stream a further nineteen live Serie A matches on BBC iPlayer.
Viewers in Scotland can watch all of Scotland's men's international matches live, along with selected Scottish Cup fixtures including the final, and highlights of all Premiership matches on Sportscene. Selected Scottish Cup fixtures and the final are included in that coverage. Live commentary of Scottish Premiership matches, Scottish and League Cup ties and all of Scotland's men's internationals will be available on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound.
In Wales, selected matches from the Novira Cymru Premier will be broadcast on BBC iPlayer, and Wales men's international matches will be shown live on BBC Wales, BBC iPlayer, BBC Two, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Sounds. BBC Sport NI has secured a new three-year broadcast agreement with the Irish FA and the Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL), providing free-to-air coverage across BBC iPlayer, online, radio and TV. BBC Sport NI will broadcast every Northern Ireland senior men's international until June 2028.
Kelly Somers' The Football Interview will continue on BBC iPlayer, BBC Football YouTube and the BBC Sport website and app, and will also air on BBC One every Saturday from 12:45 BST. The Wayne Rooney Show will be available on BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds, BBC Football YouTube and the BBC Sport website and app. Additional audio and podcast offerings include 606 with Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage; Premier League Review on the Football Daily with Rick Edwards; The Monday Night Club; The Football Daily with Mark Chapman, Chris Sutton and Rory Smith; The Total Sports Show with Charlie Taylor; and 72+: The EFL Podcast with Aaron Paul and Jobi McAnuff.
Match of the Day will be broadcast every weekend on BBC TV, BBC iPlayer and the BBC website and app, and BBC Sport is offering a Match of the Day Predictor game on its website and app. Listeners can access 209 Premier League games on BBC Radio 5 Live, 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds.
