Aman Sehrawat defeated North Korea's world champion Chong Song Han 11-7 to claim the men's 57kg wrestling gold at the Asian Games in Nagoya on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The 23-year-old Indian had previously taken bronze at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Sehrawat became India's youngest Olympic medallist when he won bronze at the Paris Games, and his victory in Nagoya altered the colour of his Asian Games medal from bronze to gold. Chong Song Han entered the final as North Korea's world champion.

In the semifinals, Sehrawat beat Tajikistan’s Aiaal Belolyubskii 14-8 to reach the title match. That win set him up for what the report described as a shot at his maiden Asian Games gold.

In the final, Sehrawat maintained control through much of the bout despite Han's attempts to overturn the contest, and he used tactical wrestling to keep the lead. He recorded an 11-7 scoreline to complete his climb to the top of the podium.

The gold in Nagoya adds to India's wrestling success at the Games following Sujeet Kalkal's men's 65kg gold on Friday. Sehrawat's result contributed to a sequence of Indian victories in the wrestling events at the Asian Games.

Sehrawat's triumph on October 3, 2026, in Nagoya secures his maiden Asian Games gold. The title represents a change in his continental Games medal standing from his previous Hangzhou bronze.
