Aman Sehrawat wins men’s freestyle 57kg gold at Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya

Aman Sehrawat clinched the men’s freestyle 57kg gold at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Saturday, October 3. He defeated North Korea’s Han Chong Song 11-7 in the final at the Nagoya City Inae Sports Complex.
Sehrawat, 23, hails from Birohar, Haryana, and adds to his Asiad medal collection after winning bronze at Hangzhou 2022 in the same weight class. His victory at Aichi-Nagoya is India’s first-ever Asian Games gold in the men’s freestyle 57kg division and represents his second medal at the Asian Games.
The final pitted Sehrawat against reigning world champion Han Chong Song of North Korea. The contest was staged at the Nagoya City Inae Sports Complex as part of the wrestling programme at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
The match opened with a passivity warning, after which Sehrawat secured the first scoring sequence to lead 2-0. He converted that start into further advantage before an injury-related stoppage affected the flow of the bout.
Following the injury delay, Sehrawat extended his lead to 6-1. Han mounted a response after a subsequent injury break and narrowed the margin to 7-6.
Sehrawat then produced a four-point run to move from a one-point deficit into an 11-7 lead, which decided the gold medal. The win gave Sehrawat his first Asiad gold medal.
Sehrawat’s title was the second freestyle wrestling gold for India at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, coming after Sujeet Kalkal won the men’s 65kg event on Friday. With Sehrawat’s gold, India’s overall tally at the 2026 Asian Games rose to 83 medals: 20 gold, 26 silver and 37 bronze.
