Amit Sheoran, former national-level wrestler, arrested in Delhi opium case; claims opium use in training

Amit Sheoran, a former national-level wrestler, was arrested in Delhi by Delhi Police on 19 August 2026 in an opium smuggling case.

He had spent three years on the run from charges of opium smuggling, according to the report, and Sheoran has claimed that fellow wrestlers resort to opium to enhance training efforts.

Another arrested supplier has identified him as a key figure.
