Andreeva leads seeded field as WTA Singapore Open 2026 main draw starts on September 21

Mirra Andreeva, Amanda Anisimova, Alexandra Eala and Elise Mertens are among the headline entrants at the WTA Singapore Open 2026, which begins its main draw at the OCBC Arena in Singapore on September 21. The event has been upgraded to WTA 500 status for 2026 and runs during the Asian swing of the WTA calendar.

Andreeva takes the top seed after Jessica Pegula withdrew from the tournament; Pegula is listed among nine withdrawals. The top four seeds—Andreeva, Anisimova, Eala and Mertens—have been given opening-round byes. The withdrawal list includes Diana Shnaider, Sorana Cirstea and Sara Bejlek, with Clara Tauson, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Anastasia Potapova also sidelined. Jessica Pegula reached the US Open semi-finals for the second consecutive year and currently sits at a career-high World No. 3 in the WTA Rankings.

Tournament projections place Andreeva and defending champion Elise Mertens in the top half of the draw with a potential semi-final meeting. In the bottom half, Amanda Anisimova and Alexandra Eala are on course for a possible last-four showdown. Maja Chwalinska occupies the fifth seed position in the top half.

Five-time WTA title winner Leylah Fernandez has accepted a wildcard and will enter the draw as the sixth seed, with the organisers noting her capacity to impact the top half. The bottom half also includes Maria Sakkari and Donna Vekic, who are listed as additional notable entrants adding competition to that section of the draw.

Organisers describe the Singapore Open, alongside the Korea Open, as one of two WTA 500 events that serve as tune-up competitions ahead of the season’s final two WTA 1000 tournaments in Beijing and Wuhan. Belgium’s Elise Mertens arrives in Singapore as the defending champion.

The Singapore Open will not feature any Indian players in contention for singles or doubles titles. Broadcast arrangements list Tennis Channel for Indian and American viewers, BBC and Sky Sports in the UK, and streaming availability on Tennis Channel and WTA TV in India. The main draw is scheduled to conclude on September 27 at the OCBC Arena.
