Argentina to host Burkina Faso in international friendly at Estadio Más Monumental on October 3

Argentina will host Burkina Faso at the Estadio Más Monumental on October 3 in an international friendly. The fixture follows Argentina’s 4-0 win over Bolivia in their first game after the FIFA World Cup 2026 and Burkina Faso’s 1-0 victory against the Central African Republic.

Lionel Scaloni remains in charge of the Argentina side as they work through a post-Lionel Messi transition, and the team controlled large portions of the 4-0 win over Bolivia without allowing many chances. Nico Paz, 22, started on the right flank in that match, scored and provided an assist. Lionel Messi will join the squad ahead of the friendly and can be used as a substitute. All of the selected squad members for both Argentina and Burkina Faso are ready to be in action.

Burkina Faso, coached by Amir Abdou, go into the match off a 1-0 win over the Central African Republic where they defended well to keep a clean sheet. Aboubacar Camara, 19, came off the bench in that game and scored the decisive goal. The Stallions will travel to Argentina and face the challenge of playing away from home.

Argentina’s named XI and bench selections were provided as: Emi Martínez (GK); Giay, Romero, Lisandro Martínez, Vega; Paz, Mac Allister, Soule, Prestianni; Lautaro Martínez, Álvarez. Burkina Faso’s listed group was: Koffi (GK); Kabore, Djiga, Tapsoba, Kouassi; Doucet; Bouda, Camara, Ouegraogo, Zagre; Traore.

Preview commentary in the match notes projects Argentina to hold an advantage due to home conditions and perceived squad quality, while noting Burkina Faso will look to build on recent winning momentum and present a strong challenge. The preview’s predicted scoreline for the friendly is Argentina 4-1 Burkina Faso.

The match is scheduled to take place at the Estadio Más Monumental on October 3. Live broadcast arrangements list Zee5, Unite8 Sports 1 and Unite8 Sports 1 HD as the only viewing options in India; Argentina viewers can watch on TyC Sports Argentina, Telefe Argentina, TyC Sports Play and mitelefe; UK coverage is listed as Premier Sports Player and Premier Sports 2.
