Arshdeep Singh apologised to Axar Patel after the third Twenty20 international between India and West Indies at Holkar Stadium in Indore on October 12, 2026, saying he was responsible for Axar’s run out. He made the comment to bcci.tv after the match and delivered the apology on camera: “I would like to apologise to Axar bhai. Sorry, Axar bhai. I got you run out.”

India batted first after losing the toss and began strongly, getting a 108-run second-wicket partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan in 6.4 overs. At 8.1 overs the hosts were 115/1 but lost momentum in the latter part of the innings; Abhishek scored 69 off 30 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes as a few cameos pushed India to 223.

West Indies lost in-form captain Shai Hope early in the chase when Arshdeep Singh bowled him in the second over, and the visitors finished 209/7, falling 14 runs short. Despite a spirited response from the touring side, they could not overhaul India’s total.

Arshdeep finished with figures of 3/44, dismissing Shai Hope, Sherfane Rutherford and Keemo Paul, and contributed 11 off 8 with the bat. His bowling provided the early breakthrough that the home side sought in the chase.

The apology followed an incident on the first ball of the 19th over when Axar Patel was run out at the non-striker’s end. Axar struck the ball towards point and was described as ball-watching while Arshdeep did not look at the ball and continued running; Axar was run out for 20 off 14.

After the game, speaking to bcci.tv, Arshdeep said the team had planned specifically for Hope, who had hit three centuries and one half-century in his previous four innings, and that the tactic had worked. He attributed the early dismissal to that strategy.

India won the third T20I by 14 runs in Indore, and Arshdeep Singh was awarded the Man of the Match for his contributions with ball and bat.
