The Belarusian, a known Milan supporter, was hosted at the stadium by club president Gerry Cardinale. Cardinale greeted her before kick-off and presented a personalised jersey bearing her name and the number one stitched on the back.

Photographs from San Siro showed Sabalenka smiling courtside in a grey tank top and dark trousers. She watched the game from a box alongside Cardinale as Milan cruised to a 3-0 win. The visit was described in the report as a lighter moment after a difficult few days for Sabalenka.

Sabalenka had entered the US Open final chasing a third straight title. She lost the match to Elena Rybakina 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in New York. The aftermath of the final included a visible display of frustration when she broke her racket on her chair after the handshake.

The defeat cost Sabalenka the World No. 1 ranking to the Kazakh and left her without a Grand Slam title in the 2026 season. She faced heavy criticism following the post-match incident involving the racket. Hoping to move on from the setback, Sabalenka has been keeping herself occupied with off-court endeavours.

Despite no longer being the top-ranked player, the four-time Grand Slam champion remains a prominent figure on the WTA. Her most recent tournament victory came in March at the Miami Open. The report noted she will be looking to halt a run of poor results after that March title.
