Asa Tribe has been prevented from joining the England Lions tour of St Kitts and Nevis after a recent visit to Kenya, the England and Wales Cricket Board said on 2 November 2026. The restriction follows concern over an outbreak of Ebola in east Africa.

Tribe, 22, is a Glamorgan opening batsman who remains eligible to represent his native Jersey until he wins a senior England cap. He played three List A matches for Jersey in Nairobi last month and completed his final match there on 27 October before planning to travel to join the England Lions squad in St Kitts and Nevis.

The government of St Kitts and Nevis has imposed an entry ban on recent non-national visitors to Kenya after the emergence of Ebola in the country, where nine cases have been confirmed, including two fatalities. The ban forms part of a wider 21-day non-entry rule that applies to non-nationals who have been in Kenya and seven other African countries, according to the ECB statement.

A spokesperson for the England and Wales Cricket Board said: "Asa Tribe was unable to enter Saint Kitts & Nevis, having recently travelled to Kenya. Saint Kitts & Nevis currently have a 21-day non-entry rule in place for non-nationals who have been in Kenya due to the Ebola situation in Kenya and seven other countries in Africa. Asa is back in the UK, and we are in touch with the relevant authorities."

It is understood Tribe intended to travel to St Kitts and Nevis via connecting flights and had reached Paris before discovering he could not continue on tour. He was therefore unable to link up with the Lions before their opening fixtures.

In Tribe's absence, England Lions began their T20 series with an eight-wicket victory over West Indies A on Sunday; 18-year-old Thomas Rew, captaining the side, struck an unbeaten 50 as England’s second string chased 99 in 10.1 overs. The touring party still have four T20s and three 50-over matches remaining, all scheduled to be played in St Kitts.

With all seven matches taking place in St Kitts and the final fixture set for 16 November, Tribe appears unlikely to join the Lions later in the trip without a waiver from the local authorities.
