Asian Games 2026: 15 sports will not have live coverage in India, including teqball and golf
When India began its Asian Games 2026 campaign on September 17 in Aichi-Nagoya, fans discovered that 15 sports would not be available via live telecast or streaming in India.
The tournament in Aichi-Nagoya has opened amid reports of logistical and accommodation problems, and this edition is the first time the city is hosting the Games. India’s first event on September 17 was teqball at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Centre; the sport is making its Asian Games debut and India is represented by three athletes. Teqball drew fan interest but was not being shown on SonyLIV or the Sony Sports network, and it is one of the disciplines excluded from live coverage for the subcontinent.
Modern pentathlon also began on September 17 and, unlike teqball, India has no participants in the event; the sport will not be streamed live for viewers in India.
Golf and wushu are among the other notable sports without live telecast or streaming in India. Aditi Ashok leads India’s six-member golf squad for Aichi-Nagoya, while the wushu contingent comprises seven athletes and is led by Naorem Roshibina Devi, who is a two-time Asian Games medallist. A total of 15 sports will have no live telecast or streaming in the subcontinent: Teqball, Soft Tennis, Padel, Kurash, Jiu-Jitsu, Wushu, Sepak Takraw, Surfing, Skateboarding, Sport Climbing, Virtual Taekwondo, Breaking, Golf, Modern Pentathlon and Triathlon.
