Asian Games 2026 Day 7: Athletics and archery to kick off India’s Saturday in Aichi-Nagoya

India will begin Day 7 of the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya on Saturday, September 26, with athletics and archery due to kick-start the nation's programme. Khel Now will provide live updates of the day's action.
Khel Now opened a live blog for Day 7 as the continental showpiece continues in Aichi-Nagoya; India will field athletes across multiple disciplines aiming to build on their medal haul. India have so far secured 23 medals at the Games.
Shooting has emerged as the standout contributor for India, accounting for 10 medals, including the contingent’s second gold in the mixed team 10m air pistol event. The shooting haul also includes five silver and four bronze medals, and the sport remains one of India’s key medal prospects as the competition progresses.
Athletics is the only other sport to have delivered multiple medals for India, producing two silvers and three bronzes. The athletics podium returns form part of the contingent’s push to add further medals over the coming days.
Other medals have come from women’s cricket (gold), weightlifting (silver) and wushu (silver). Additional bronze medals were won in badminton, mixed martial arts, rowing and soft tennis, with each of those disciplines contributing one medal.
On Day 7 India will have medal opportunities in canoe sprint, kabaddi and shooting. India is a strong favourite to win a gold in kabaddi, but will face intense competition from Iran; the nation’s schedule for Saturday begins at 4 am (September 26) with a medal athletics event and a surfing competition, and India will contest as many as 14 medal events on Day 7.
At the end of Day 6 India has won 23 medals, which includes 2 gold, 9 silvers and 12 bronze medals; the team’s immediate task is to convert the 14 events on Saturday into further podium finishes, with live coverage available via Khel Now.
