Asian Games 2026: India’s boxing medal winners and key results

India’s 11-member boxing contingent produced multiple medals at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, which are being held from September 19 to October 4. The squad, made up of six men and five women, was entered across 11 medal events.

The Indian team arrived in Aichi-Nagoya on the back of a record-breaking showing at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, but their Asian Games campaign began unevenly. Competition officials report a slow start for the boxers at the Asiad before later improvements in a number of weight classes.

Three Indian male boxers—Jadumani Singh, Sachin Siwach and Sumit Kundu—failed to progress beyond the quarter-final stage of their respective events. In the women’s draw, Preeti Pawar, who won bronze at Hangzhou 2022, and Sakshi Chaudhary were both eliminated in the Round of 16.

Narender Berwal secured his second consecutive Asian Games bronze medal in the men’s heavyweight (+90kg) division after losing to Kazakhstan’s Aibek Oralbay in the semi-final. That bronze is listed among India’s current boxing medals at the tournament.

Ankush Panghal advanced to the final of the men’s 80kg event and will face South Korea’s Kim Minseong. Parveen Hooda reached the final of the women’s 65kg category and is scheduled to meet Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien-chin, outcomes that guarantee at least two silver medals for India.

The tournament medal count reported so far lists India with three boxing medals, all bronze. Narender Berwal is explicitly named among those bronze medallists in the current tally.

Ankush Panghal’s final against Kim Minseong and Parveen Hooda’s final against Chen Nien-chin are the confirmed next bouts that will determine additional medals for India at the Asian Games 2026.
