India's Yash Kumar Chauhan was provisionally suspended by the Olympic Council of Asia on October 3, 2026, after an Adverse Analytical Finding from a sample collected on September 27 at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. The 24-year-old kurash competitor had been eliminated from the tournament earlier that day after losing 0-10 to Tajikistan’s Shakarmamad Mirmamadov in a pre-quarterfinal.

Kurash at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games ran from September 26 to 29, and Chauhan was already out of the competition when the result emerged. India’s only medal in the sport at these Games was a bronze for Pincky Balhara in the women’s 78 kg category.

The International Testing Agency (ITA), which collects samples and manages results at these Games for the OCA, reported the Adverse Analytical Finding. The ITA found three separate substances in Chauhan’s sample: metabolites of metandienone, metabolites of GW1516, and mephentermine with its metabolite. The OCA said all three are classed as non-specified prohibited substances.

The OCA provided descriptions of the substances and their effects: metandienone is an oral steroid derived from testosterone and “builds muscle mass, strength and endurance,” according to the OCA. The body said GW1516 acts on fat metabolism and can improve endurance, while mephentermine is a stimulant that can “sharpen alertness and reduce fatigue.” The first two substances are banned at all times, and mephentermine is prohibited only in competition; together the OCA described them as covering strength, stamina and alertness.

The OCA said Chauhan has been "provisionally suspended with immediate effect." The organisation noted that a provisional suspension is not a final ruling.

Chauhan may challenge the finding before the Anti-Doping Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and request an analysis of his B-sample, the second portion of the original sample. The case will be settled under the World Anti-Doping Code and OCA rules.
