Asian Games 2026: India targets multiple medals on September 26 (Day 7)
India will pursue further medals at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya on Saturday, September 26, as Day 7 features gold-medal deciders in kabaddi, shooting finals, squash podium matches, canoe sprint races and marquee track-and-field events.
After a Day 6 that included finals in rifle shooting and distance running along with dominant kabaddi semi-final wins, the Indian contingent faces a packed Day 7 schedule that opens before dawn and stretches into the evening with multiple medal opportunities across disciplines.
The on-course action begins at 4:00 AM IST with the Men’s Marathon Final over the 42.195-kilometer route in Nagoya, where India’s entrants are Sawan Barwal and Kartik Karkera.
The shooting range hosts the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions competition, with Ashi Chouksey, Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod contesting the kneeling, prone and standing stages; the team medals will be decided by cumulative qualification scores and the individual elimination final is scheduled for 9:30 AM IST. Ashi and Tilottama are noted in the squad for their decimal pacing and are in contention to reach the top-eight cutoff for that individual final.
In canoe sprint, India’s 500m pairing of Raju Rawat and Neha Devi Leichonbam will race for advancement and podium positioning, aiming to maintain clean boat alignment in the closing 100 metres against top crews from Uzbekistan and China.
Squash provides several medal matches: Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar play a mixed doubles semifinal versus Hong Kong’s Tang Ming Hong and Lee Ka Yi at 8:30 AM IST, Anahat Singh faces Japan’s Satomi Watanabe in a women’s singles semi at 10:35 AM IST, and Abhay Singh meets Pakistan’s Muhammad Irfan in the men’s singles semi at 11:15 AM IST.
Both Indian kabaddi teams contest continental finals at the Nagoya City Gymnasium, with the women’s gold-medal match against Iran scheduled for 9:30 AM IST and the men’s final versus Iran set for 2:30 PM IST. On the field events roster, two-time Asian Games gold medallist Tajinderpal Singh Toor will compete in shot put alongside Karanveer Singh, while triple jumpers Praveen Chithravel and Karthik Unnikrishnan are named for India; Praveen is noted as having claimed bronze in Hangzhou.
Track entries include Hangzhou multi-medallist Parul Chaudhary and a rising middle-distance runner identified as Pooja, both listed among India’s contenders in the evening medal sessions; the programme specifies several track-and-field medal events for later in the day.
