Asian Games: Indian women's table tennis team beat Pakistan 3-0, reach quarterfinals

India's women's table tennis team defeated Pakistan 3-0 at the Asian Games in Japan on Monday, September 21, 2026, topping Group F with three wins and advancing to the quarterfinals.

The match took place at the Sky Hall, where India continued a dominant run after beating Indonesia and Singapore in their opening rubbers on Sunday; the tie against Pakistan proved one-sided throughout. India finished Group F with three straight victories to move through the group stage.

Sutirtha Mukherjee opened the tie for India, defeating Aleena Khan 11-3, 11-3, 11-4 in 10 minutes; Mukherjee had won a bronze medal in the women's doubles at the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou. Her quick straight-games win set the tone for the Indian side.

Seventeen-year-old Syndrela Das extended India’s lead by beating Kalsoom Khan 11-6, 11-7, 11-5; Syndrela is currently ranked 99th in the ITTF women's singles rankings and had been brought into the senior squad following strong domestic form. Her straight-sets victory came without dropping a game.

Sreeja Akula completed the clean sweep, beating Fatima Khan 11-4, 11-4, 11-5 in 11 minutes to seal the tie for India. Akula’s win ensured no reverse for the Indian team in the group encounter.

With the 3-0 Group F win, India progress into the quarterfinals of the Asian Games women's team event.
