India won 26 medals on Day 5 of the Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya on October 23, 2026, taking their overall haul to 114 medals — 30 gold, 35 silver and 49 bronze. The Day 5 haul included nine gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals across athletics, para-badminton, para-archery, para swimming and other disciplines.

The 114 medals represent six more than India won at the previous edition of the Asian Para Games, the report states, and leave India fourth on the overall table behind China (427), Japan (185) and Uzbekistan (145). The delegation stood two gold medals clear of South Korea and four ahead of Iran in the gold count. October 24 was scheduled as the final day of competition in Aichi-Nagoya, with a handful of Boccia and para-archery matches remaining; the report also noted that India’s campaign had ended on Friday and no Indian para-athletes would be in action on the last day, while the closing ceremony was due on Saturday and Mona Agarwal and Nishad Kumar were named India’s flagbearers.

Athletics produced multiple headline results on Day 5, including a podium sweep in the men’s javelin throw F42-F44/F61-F64 where Sumit Antil retained his title with a best throw of 72.46m, Mahendra Gurjar took silver and Sandip Sanjay Sargar claimed bronze. Sandeep won the men’s 400m T64 final in 52.28 seconds, setting a new world record, with Ajay Kumar third in 53.61 seconds; Sandeep also took bronze in the men’s 100m T44 with a time of 11.67 seconds. Haney won the men’s javelin throw F37/38 with a world-record effort of 60.49m in the F37 category, improving his mark on his final attempt after breaking the record on his fifth throw.

Field and throwing events saw further Indian success: Pranav Soorma won gold in the men’s club throw F51 with a throw of 32.87m, Dharambir took bronze with 27.71m and Amit Kumar finished fourth, while Jung Jiwon of South Korea won silver. Navdeep Singh secured bronze with a throw of 42.55m in his event, Praveen Sharma finished fourth in the men’s discus throw F11 with 30.64m, and India’s para-archery effort concluded with six medals overall.

Para-badminton produced several golds for India. Nitesh Kumar beat Pramod Bhagat 21-18, 21-16 to win the men’s singles final, with Pramod settling for silver; Naveen Sivakumar defeated Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan 21-9, 21-17 to claim the men’s singles SL4 title. Thulasimathi Murugesan lost the women’s singles SU5 final to China’s Qiuxia Yang 18-21, 11-21 to take silver, later partnering Manasi Joshi to win the women’s doubles SL3-SU5 gold by defeating China’s Yang Quixia and Xiao Zuxian. Thulasimathi and Nitesh Kumar reached the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 final but lost to Indonesia’s Leani Ratri Oktila and Hikmat Ramdani, settling for silver.

In para-archery, Harvinder Singh and Vijay Sundi won the men’s doubles recurve final against China 5-1, drawing the first set then taking the next two sets 37-36 and 38-36 to secure gold; Bhawna and Pooja were beaten by China in the women’s doubles recurve gold-medal match. Harvinder and Bhawna later finished fourth in the recurve mixed team after losing to Iran in the bronze-medal match. The report said India’s para-archery campaign ended with a total of six medals.

Swimming and other podium finishes included Himanshu Nandal’s bronze in the men’s 100m S11 final behind Japan’s Uchu Tomita and China’s Chuanzhen Sun, Nimisha Chakkungalparambil’s silver in the women’s long jump T47 with a best of 5.37m behind Sri Lanka’s Dhananjana Wickramasingha, Rakeshbhai Bhatt’s bronze in the men’s 200m T37 and Jahangir Molla’s fifth place in the men’s 100m butterfly S12.

India finished its Day 5 programme with 114 medals, having added 26 on the day, and no Indian athletes were scheduled to compete on the final competition day, October 24.
