Axar Patel linked with possible CSK move in IPL 2027 trade chatter

Axar Patel has been linked with a potential transfer from Delhi Capitals to Chennai Super Kings in trade rumours circulating on November 7, 2026, ahead of IPL 2027. Neither franchise has confirmed any move.

Chennai Super Kings completed a trade with Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of IPL 2027 that brought Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards to CSK while Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis moved to SRH. Those roster changes preceded a fresh wave of speculation connecting CSK and Delhi Capitals over further player exchanges.

Unverified reports have named Axar Patel as one of the principal players of interest to CSK, and other Delhi Capitals players mentioned in those accounts include Ashutosh Sharma and Sameer Rizvi. Media coverage has presented multiple permutations but has not provided an agreed list of players involved.

Speculation has also suggested moves in the opposite direction, with CSK’s Dewald Brevis and Noor Ahmad among the names linked with a switch to Delhi Capitals. Published accounts state there is no clear information about which specific players would form part of any potential swap.

Several journalists have indicated talks between the two franchises may be at an advanced stage, and former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin added to the chatter, posting: "If this one is done as properly as it was planned! This is a proper hunt for the coveted 🏆no.6✅✅✅ #thehuntison @prasannalara @crikipidea".

DC co-owner Parth Jindal had previously backed Axar Patel, suggesting the all-rounder would continue with the franchise, and Delhi Capitals shared a video featuring him on social media, which contributed to expectations he would remain with the team.

No official announcements have been made by Chennai Super Kings or Delhi Capitals; with the IPL 2027 retention deadline on November 17, further confirmation or clarification on any trades is expected before that date.
