Badoni scores sixth First Class century as Delhi close day one on 309 for five in Ranchi

Ayush Badoni struck his sixth First Class hundred as Delhi ended day one of their Ranji Elite Group-C match against Jharkhand at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on Monday, October 26, 2026, reaching 309 for five at stumps.
Badoni, 26, arrived at the crease having posted previous Ranji bests of 217 and 205 in earlier innings and produced a fluent display described in the report as a masterclass in facing spin, cutting, driving and sweeping. He reached three figures off 111 balls and remained unbeaten on 105 as Delhi recovered from a mid-innings wobble.
The recovery was built around an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 128 between Badoni and Sumit Mathur; Mathur finished on 50. Mathur had been sent back to the field on 36 after holing out at long-on when Jharkhand spinner Anukul Roy was found to have overstepped, but thereafter the pair consolidated without further incident.
Delhi had slipped to 181 for five earlier in the day after losing wickets to Jharkhand’s spinners. Priyansh Arya was bowled by Kounain Quraishi and Sanat Sangwan was bowled by Utkarsh Singh in the opening session, their dismissals contributing to the top-order collapse.
Further setbacks arrived between lunch and tea when Yash Dhull fell to Anukul Roy, the captain out caught on his follow-through, and Ayush Doseja was caught by Jatin Pandey off Quraishi for 21. Pandey ran back from cover point and completed a diving, last-ditch catch to remove Doseja.
All five Delhi wickets were claimed by Jharkhand’s spin attack; the visitors’ resistance was otherwise limited to the Badoni–Mathur partnership. Jharkhand’s bowling figures in the published account read: Jatin 9-2-30-0, Shubh 4-0-7-0, Utkarsh 23-4-63-2, Aditya 11-1-40-0, Kounain Quraishi 15-0-70-2, Anukul 28-2-91-1.
By stumps Delhi were 309 for five after 90 overs; the published fall of wickets was 1-56, 2-99, 3-123, 4-143, 5-181.
