Tanmay Baloda recorded the best-ever match figures in a youth 'Test' (14 for 73) as India under-19 defeated Australia under-19 by 10 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. India chased the target of 11 and sealed victory in five deliveries.

Australia were dismissed for 174 and 151 in the match, while India made 315 in their first innings and finished 11 without loss in 0.5 overs to complete the chase. Baloda returned eight for 41 in Australia’s second innings as the hosts bowled out the visitors for 151 in 43.5 overs.

At the start of day three Australia were 86 for 4, 55 runs behind India’s first-innings total. Baloda struck with his first delivery of the morning, trapping Zed Hollick lbw, and removed Charlie Henderson in his next over with a quicker delivery.

Pacer Priyanshu Singh induced a cut from Jacob Pietz that uprooted the off stump and then accounted for Thomas Vaseo. Blake Cattle managed the strike from the other end, farming it with No. 10 Patrick Sullivan at the crease.

Skipper Yashbardhan Chauhan kept the field placings open to deny Cattle boundaries, forcing him into taking singles. Sullivan provided support for a spell, but Baloda later had Sullivan caught at first slip to break the partnership.

Cattle reached a fighting half-century by coming down the track and clearing long-off off Ayaan Akram, then used a front-foot shot over long-on to take Australia past India’s mark. He was eventually bowled attempting to take on Baloda.

The victory completed a 2-0 sweep for India in the multi-day series; PoM: Baloda; PoS: Cattle.
