Baranica Elangovan and Mubassina Mohammed were the headline winners on Day 3 of the 65th National Open Athletics Championships 2026 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday, October 10; Baranica cleared 4.10m in the women's pole vault and Mubassina won the women's long jump with 6.38m. The session comprised 11 finals across track and field.

Baranica Elangovan was the only competitor to clear 4.00m, taking the women's pole vault title with a 4.10m clearance. Mariya Jaison finished second with 3.90m. Sindhushree G, Krishna Rachan, Karthika V and Nitika Akare shared third place at 3.80m.

In the women's long jump ONGC's Mubassina Mohammed secured gold with a 6.38m leap, edging Uttar Pradesh's Shaili Singh who recorded 6.37m. Mubassina's second-round effort proved decisive in the one-centimetre margin. Nidhi completed the podium with 6.28m.

The women's 4x100m relay produced a photo-finish: Railway Sports won in 45.56 seconds, beating Odisha by 0.01 seconds, with Tamil Nadu third in 46.03. Railway Sports also completed a relay double by taking the mixed 4x400m relay.

Railway Sports' mixed 4x400m quartet of K Avinash, Sonia Baishya, Vikrant Panchal and Kiran Pahal posted 3:21.60 to win, finishing 0.83 seconds ahead of Haryana (3:22.43), with Rajasthan third in 3:25.54. The men's 4x100m relay was won by the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) team of Harsh Raut, Rushiprasad Desai, Laukik Melge and Harjit in 39.76 seconds; Railway Sports were second in 40.75 and Haryana third in 41.37.

Anushka Yadav claimed the women's hammer throw title with a mark of 66.53m, Haqiqat Grewal took silver with 56.14m and Kulvinder was third with 55.22m. In the men's shot put Karanveer Singh won with 19.63m while Sanyam and Anurag Kaler both recorded 18.32m, Sanyam placing second and Anurag third. Ramyashree Jain won the women's javelin with 56.63m, Sanjana Choudhary was second on 56.12m and Deepika third with 54.07m.

Rohit secured the men's high jump title with a clearance of 2.19m, with Jesse Sandesh and Aaditya Raghuvanshi both clearing 2.16m to fill the next two places. In the men's 5000m Sunil Dawar won in 14:01.64, Shivaji Madappa was second in 14:02.81 and Ajay Bind third in 14:03.86, a 1.17-second margin between the top two. The women's 10,000m saw Shampa Gain take gold in 35:33.90, Soniya finish second in 35:35.36 and Km Mamta third in 35:38.25, with the top three within five seconds.

The National Open Athletics Championships 2026 conclude on Sunday, October 11, with 16 finals scheduled, including the men's and women's marathon race walks, men's javelin throw, 400m hurdles, 200m and 800m races, men's long jump, the 3000m steeplechase, the conclusion of the women's heptathlon, and the men's and women's 4x400m relays.
