Barcelona nearing £8.6m deal for Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus

Barcelona are close to agreeing a transfer for Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, with the move reported to be worth £8.6m (10m euros) and first reported on 30 August 2026. The club and player are working to conclude terms before Tuesday's deadline.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Jesus was not training with the squad ahead of their Monday Premier League game against Aston Villa (20:00 BST). When asked whether that meant Jesus was leaving, Arteta said: "Personal situations, whatever they are, I think it's clear."
The transfer is believed to be at an advanced stage, although finer details still require finalising. Napoli had shown an interest in Jesus during the window. The 29-year-old is set to join last season's Spanish league champions if the deal is completed.
Jesus moved to Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022. During his time with the Gunners he scored 32 goals and added 22 assists in 123 appearances. He was omitted from Arsenal's squad for their Premier League opener against Coventry.
If completed, the move would be Barcelona's third signing from a Premier League club this summer. Those arrivals already include Anthony Gordon from Newcastle and Rodri from Manchester City. Earlier this week, Barcelona's pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez appeared to end as sources told BBC Sport that Atletico would not negotiate with their Spanish rivals.
Jesus is due to travel for a medical on Monday, and the transfer is expected to be completed before Tuesday's deadline.
