Bayern Munich defeated RB Leipzig 3-1 at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Saturday, August 15, 2026, completing the Telekom Cup pre-season fixture.

Luis Diaz, who returned to Bayern after Colombia’s FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign, made his second successive scoring appearance in pre-season after earlier showing. He had a quiet pre-season debut against Jeju before netting in a 27-minute outing versus Aston Villa, and he opened the scoring in this match.

Leipzig started strongly but Bayern took control and Diaz struck in the 13th minute; the hosts led 1-0 at half-time. Leipzig dominated the early stages of the second half and Brajan Gruda levelled in the 52nd minute, but Nathaniel Brown restored Bayern’s lead with a 57th-minute finish and Jamal Musiala added a third in the 81st minute.

Just 10 minutes into the match Konrad Laimer began limping, required support from the medical staff and was withdrawn; Sacha Boey replaced him. Laimer’s departure forced an early change to Bayern’s setup.

Head coach Vincent Kompany selected a youthful side for the friendly. Nineteen-year-old Tim Binder, promoted to the first team in pre-season, produced a solid outing, while Arijon Ibrahimović — back from a loan at Heidenheim — struggled as the lone striker, registering one touch in the opposition’s box; Tom Bischof also failed to impose himself in midfield alongside Aleksandar Pavlovic and Joshua Kimmich.

Left-back David Raum, typically a key figure for Leipzig, had an unusually disappointing match, losing possession on several occasions and failing to create sufficient openings. He has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United.

Brajan Gruda’s loan from Brighton, arranged in January, has progressed quietly; the Germany U-21 international scored three goals in 13 appearances during his first six months in the Bundesliga, prompting Leipzig to extend the loan for another season. Gruda rewarded that faith by equalising in the second half with a neat finish, and Leipzig hold a €30 million purchase option on the player.

The 3-1 victory secured the Telekom Cup for Bayern and brought their pre-season programme to a close at the Allianz Arena.
