The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended to November 17 the deadline for Indian Premier League franchises to submit their player retention lists, providing the extra time in a communication to teams on Monday ahead of the mini auction in Goa on December 16.

The revised cut-off replaces the original November 15 deadline set by the board. The extension was prompted by the India-New Zealand ODI series, with the fifth and final match scheduled at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on November 15.

Player registration for the auction opened on Monday and will close on November 23, the BCCI said. Franchises have been given until December 1 to submit the list of players they wish to bid for.

The final auction register, which will include the order of player sets, is due to be released on December 3. The auction itself is scheduled to take place in Goa on December 16.

The auction date will coincide with India’s second ODI against Sri Lanka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The overlap of international fixtures and the auction calendar was noted in the board’s communication to franchises.

The BCCI also signalled an active transfer market in the near term, with the transfer window expected to see frenetic activity in the coming fortnight.

Franchises must finalise and submit their retention lists by November 17, after which player registration closes on November 23 and the mini auction in Goa will be held on December 16.
