Bellingham drives Real Madrid to 4-0 win over Málaga as side keeps perfect La Liga start

Real Madrid maintained a perfect start to the La Liga season with a 4-0 victory over promoted Málaga at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday, scoring three times inside 30 minutes and adding a late fourth.

Jude Bellingham produced the opening goal before a Málaga goalkeeper own goal and a Kylian Mbappé volley effectively settled the match before half-time, while substitute Arda Guler finished the scoring in added time; the win moved Madrid to nine points from three matches, two clear of Atlético Madrid and Alavés, with Barcelona fourth on six points and a game in hand ahead of hosting Rayo Vallecano on Monday.

Bellingham struck in the 19th minute, collecting a loose ball near the edge of the area, driving through the middle past three defenders and firing low beneath Málaga goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero to open the scoring.

Seven minutes later the hosts doubled their lead after Herrero could only palm out a Mbappé effort; Bellingham headed the rebound back towards goal and, as Herrero and a teammate collided while trying to clear, the ball ended up in the net.

Mbappé completed Madrid’s dominant opening half in the 30th minute, meeting a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross with a volley from the centre of the box to make it 3-0.

In added time Arda Guler, shortly after coming on, completed a slick move by starting and finishing it — he fed Vinícius Júnior and tapped in the Brazilian’s return pass to wrap up the rout at the Bernabéu.

In Serie A, Napoli were beaten 2-1 at home by Como with all three goals arriving in the first half: Assane Diao’s run past Mathías Olivera set up Martin Baturina for a 17th-minute opener, Noa Lang missed a chance for Napoli before Rasmus Højlund levelled on the half-hour by drilling low into the far corner, and Como regained the lead four minutes later after André-Frank Zambo Anguissa underhit a pass back to Amir Rrahmani, Baturina nicked the ball and it fell to Tasos Douvikas, who scored his second goal of the campaign and had been Como’s top scorer last season.

Elsewhere, Yuito Suzuki scored a hat-trick as Freiburg thumped Werder Bremen 4-1, while Schalke’s return to the Bundesliga ended in a 3-0 defeat at Augsburg; Augsburg took the lead through Michael Gregoritsch in the 18th minute, Ron Schallenberg received a straight red card in the 62nd minute for a dangerous tackle on Gregoritsch, Anton Kade added a second on 79 minutes and Rodrigo Ribeiro completed the scoring in added time as Schalke finished with 10 men after spending the last three seasons in the second tier.

Later on Sunday, Inter visit Cagliari in Serie A.
