Bengaluru FC recovered from a first-half deficit to beat Sporting Club Delhi 3-2 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on October 10 in the opening match of the 2026-27 MG Indian Super League, with Menno Koch netting an 89th-minute winner.

Bengaluru began the game on the front foot, pressing high and deploying the pace of wide players Ryan Williams and Ashique Kuruniyan, and took the lead in the 22nd minute through debutant Borja Martínez; SC Delhi struck twice inside six minutes to lead 2-1 at halftime. Rodriguinho equalised for SC Delhi in the 26th minute and an inadvertent own goal by Menno Koch in the 32nd minute put the visitors ahead. The match served as Bengaluru’s season opener in the 2026-27 MG ISL at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

Bengaluru’s opening goal arrived in the 22nd minute when Williams set up Borja Martínez, who scored with a left-footed strike from outside the box into the bottom-left corner. The goal was Martínez’s first of the evening and came while he was making his debut for the club. The hosts maintained attacking intent after that opening strike.

SC Delhi responded four minutes later when young midfielder Hnamte created the chance that Rodriguinho finished with a right-footed effort from close range to level the score in the 26th minute. The visitors then took the lead in the 32nd minute after Juan Pena broke into the box and delivered a dangerous cross that Menno Koch turned into his own net, sending SC Delhi into the interval 2-1 up.

Bengaluru levelled in the 75th minute when Borja Martínez scored his second of the night, finishing with a composed left-footed shot into the centre of the goal after an assist from Mihailo Perovic. The hosts introduced young midfielder Soham Varshneya from the bench, and the substitute’s presence helped create further attacking opportunities for Bengaluru.

The decisive moment came in the 89th minute when a corner taken by Varshney found Menno Koch, who rose to head home for his first ISL goal on his debut; Koch had earlier scored an own goal in the first half. The 3-2 victory completed Bengaluru’s comeback in the season opener.

Bengaluru FC will face Chennaiyin FC on 17th October at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in the 2nd match-week of the 2026-27 MG ISL, while SC Delhi travel to meet Mohun Bagan Super Giant on 16th October at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, with that match scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST.
