Marco Bezzecchi won the Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika International Circuit on Sunday, while Jorge Martin finished third and retook the MotoGP world championship lead from Marc Marquez. Bezzecchi made his decisive move on pole-sitter Raul Fernandez with nine laps to go.

Both Bezzecchi and Martin ride for manufacturer Aprilia's factory team, while Raul Fernandez rides for Trackhouse. The race was held at a sweltering Mandalika International Circuit, where Fernandez had started from pole. The podium was completed by Fernandez in second and Martin in third.

At the start the leading pair negotiated the first turn and then broke clear from the chasing pack. Fernandez initially appeared comfortable at the front but began to fade as the race progressed. Bezzecchi seized an opportunity on lap 19 and then put distance on his rival.

Fernandez and Bezzecchi had clashed and crashed out in Saturday's sprint race. Fernandez raced on Sunday after fracturing his index finger and needed to brake with his middle finger for the whole of the race. Ducati's reigning seven-time world champion Marquez finished sixth, relinquishing the championship lead he had taken for the first time this season by winning the sprint.

The result for 2024 world champion Martin moves him up to 355 points at the top of the championship standings. Marquez is second on 353 and Bezzecchi sits third with 309.

There are five grands prix remaining in the 2026 season. The next meeting in the calendar is the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island in a fortnight's time.
