In Kolkata on October 14, 2026, Boxing Federation of India president Ajay Singh suspended secretary general Pramod Kumar, a move that followed an earlier no-confidence motion filed by Pramod against Singh.

In a letter issued on Tuesday, Ajay said several enquiries are pending against Pramod, who was earlier served a show-cause notice, "with respect to various acts and financial decisions taken by him." The communication framed the suspension as a response to those outstanding enquiries and the prior show-cause process.

The letter further accused Pramod of obstructing the federation’s work and spreading unfounded allegations, stating: "Apart from the lack of cooperation, attempts have been made to destabilise the organisation by issuing directions and notices without authority, intimidate and malign senior officials of the BFI and circulate unsubstantiated allegations across the media." Ajay also barred Pramod from exercising all powers and relieved him from all BFI panels.

Pramod replied directly to the suspension, asserting his position in a written statement: "Ajay Singh cannot suspend me as a no-confidence motion has been moved against him." He framed the no-confidence motion as the proper mechanism to address leadership disputes within the federation.

"The general house will decide his fate on October 28. We have the support of 28 associations and we will stop his dictatorship," Pramod added, confirming a general house meeting is set for October 28 to determine the outcome and stating the level of association support he claims.
