Bhairava triumphs in Telangana and Andhra Sub Area Trophy at Hyderabad meeting

Bhairava, a five-year-old gelding who had won on his previous start, took the Telangana and Andhra Sub Area Trophy, the main event of the Sunday, Aug. 9 races held in Hyderabad, prevailing in the 1,600m, rated 60 to 85 contest scheduled at 3.55 p.m.

The Aug. 9 card at Hyderabad comprised seven races beginning with the Sultan Pheroze Plate (Div. I) at 1.35 p.m. and closing with the Adler Plate (Div. I) at 5.05 p.m. The feature Telangana and Andhra Sub Area Trophy carried a 1,600m distance and Cat. II conditions; Bhairava was listed as number 10 with P. Ajeeth K assigned 56.

The opening race, SULTAN PHEROZE PLATE (Div. I) (1,100m), for 3-y-o maidens (Cat. II) produced NORTHERN SKY (11) Rafique Sk. 54.5 as the winner, with GACCHANMANASVIN second and N R I ROYAL POWER third. In SULTAN PHEROZE PLATE (Div. II) (1,100m) French Lieutenant, Svalpaviryasaktih and others started but QUEEN DALI finished first, followed by N R I CRYPTO POWER and N R I SUNPOWER.

In the NORTHERN DANCER PLATE (1,200m), for 3-y-o and upward rated 40 to 65 (Cat. II), GREIF (5) P. Sai K 60 won, with TOOTSIE DARLING second and MYSTICAL DAWN third. The FAIRWAY PLATE (1,600m), for 4-y-o and upward rated up to 25 (Cat. III), was taken by QUINTESSENTIAL (1) P. Ajeeth K 62, with SECRET OPTION second and GOLDEN BOURBON third.

The TELANGANA AND ANDHRA SUB AREA TROPHY (1,600m), 3-y-o and upward, rated 60 to 85 (Cat. II) ended with BHAIRAVA placed first, N R I TRIPLE POWER second and SILVER ACT third; the published entry list for that race also included Sugar (6) B.R. Kumar 60.5, Last Wish (8) Surya Prakash 58.5, Shadow Of The Moon (4) A.A. Vikrant 57.5 and others.

The THREE WISHES PLATE (1,800m), for 5-y-o and upward rated 20 to 45 (Cat. III), saw EXCLUSIVE LUCK (2) Md. Ekram 51.5 take the win ahead of N R I STAR and SHUBHRAK. The meeting’s final feature, ADLER PLATE (Div. I) (1,200m), for 4-y-o and upward rated 20 to 45 (Cat. III), was won by AMERICAN AFFAIR with DECEMBER CASPIAN second and SWISS GIRL third.
