Boddington ends Cundy's 20-year C4 kilo world reign

Jody Cundy's 20-year reign as para-cycling C4 kilo time trial world champion ended on 29 October 2026 when Australia's Korey Boddington beat him at the para cycling track world championships in the Netherlands. Cundy finished second in the C4 kilo time trial.
Cundy, 48, won his first Para-cycling world title in 2006 and had retained the rainbow jersey through the 15 world championships since. He was contesting a 17th C4 kilo world title at the event. Before the championships Cundy had said "age was catching up with him" and it would be "hard" to add to his 23 track cycling world titles. Cundy is a nine-time Paralympic champion, with three of his medals coming in para swimming between 1996 and 2000.
Cundy completed his kilometre in one minute and 4.93 seconds. Boddington produced a faster final run that beat Cundy by 2.25 seconds. That final run secured the Australian the victory in the C4 kilo discipline.
On the opening day Great Britain's Rebecca Newark won gold in the women's C5 kilo time trial. In the women's B kilo time trial, Sophie Unwin and pilot Jenny Holl took silver. Elizabeth Jordan and pilot Anna Whitworth Hay claimed bronze in the same event.
Also on day one Great Britain's Finlay Graham took bronze in the men's C3 sprint final. These results were recorded on day one of the para cycling track world championships in the Netherlands. Day one produced multiple British medals across sprint and kilo disciplines.
