The club said the trip is most likely a pre-season tour and described Australia as the last major market it had not yet visited. The announcement also stated that this will be the first time a Bundesliga team will come to Australia. Dortmund have existing links in the region, having recently signed a five-year deal with Wynnum Wolves FC to lay the groundwork for a future BVB International Academy. The club said the visit will give local supporters the opportunity to see one of Europe’s top clubs in Australia.

No match schedule or ticketing information has been released. The Queensland government has signed a statement of understanding with the Bundesliga amid ongoing discussions about possible practice games at Suncorp Stadium. Those talks have not yet produced confirmed fixtures.
