Brad O'Neill named 2026 Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel

Wigan Warriors hooker Brad O'Neill has been named the 2026 Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel, the first time he has received the honour, beating team-mate Adam Keighran and Leeds full-back Lachie Miller.

The 24-year-old England hooker was central to Wigan's successful 2026 campaign, during which the club won the Challenge Cup and the League Leaders' Shield; he made 31 appearances across all competitions and was also named Rugby League Writers and Broadcasters Association Player of the Year. O'Neill was sin-binned in last year's Super League Grand Final for a wayward tackle on Tyrone May, but his contributions helped Wigan claim two trophies after a 2025 season without silverware.

Matt Peet was named Betfred Super League Coach of the Year after guiding Wigan to the League Leaders' Shield and the Challenge Cup, a recognition that came on a night the club celebrated multiple honours. The ceremony saw Wigan figures prominent among the award recipients and nominees.

Wigan completed a clean sweep of the final three shortlist places for the Woman of Steel award with Eva Hunter, Jenna Foubister and Megan Willams all nominated, and Jenna Foubister took the prize. It was the second consecutive year three Wigan players were shortlisted for Woman of Steel, although the Warriors' women's side were beaten by York Valkyrie on Sunday and therefore did not add the Women's Super League title to their Women's Challenge Cup and League Leaders' crowns.

Halifax Panthers' Rob Hawkins won the Wheels of Steel award, adding to the range of honours presented on the night. Other awards and recognitions were distributed across clubs and competitions as part of the event.
