On October 26, 2014, Bray Wyatt returned at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, attacking Dean Ambrose and enabling Seth Rollins to secure the WWE Hell in a Cell main event victory; Wyatt’s interference prevented Ambrose from finishing Rollins and allowed Rollins to pin him.

The confrontation stemmed from Seth Rollins’ betrayal of The Shield in June 2014 when he aligned with The Authority, a turn that transformed his partnership with Dean Ambrose into a sustained rivalry. The pair traded assaults and confrontations in the months that followed, prompting WWE to book them in a Hell in a Cell match for the October pay-per-view at the American Airlines Center. That match carried the build of two former allies settling their feud inside the cell structure.

The encounter began with both men taking the fight to the top of the steel cage before the official bell, with Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury at ringside supporting Rollins. Ambrose and Rollins subsequently crashed through the announce tables outside the ring, and Ambrose later prevented medical staff from taking Rollins out on a stretcher.

When the match formally commenced, Ambrose employed weapons, attacking Rollins with a kendo stick and a screwdriver to press his advantage. Rollins received outside assistance from Kane and interfered from ringside using a fire extinguisher, but Ambrose recovered and established the upper hand as the contest progressed.

The decisive sequence began when Ambrose trapped Rollins’ head between cinder blocks and appeared set to execute a Curb Stomp. At that moment the arena lights went out, eerie noises filled the building, and a lantern appeared at ringside; Bray Wyatt, who had not been seen on WWE television since September other than in video packages, emerged from the darkness.

Wyatt attacked Ambrose, stopped the Curb Stomp and struck Ambrose with Sister Abigail before leaving him unconscious in the ring; Rollins then covered Ambrose for the pinfall victory. After the finish, Wyatt stood over Ambrose with his hands outstretched, while the outcome left Ambrose without the revenge he had sought and introduced a new antagonism between Ambrose and Wyatt.

Twelve years later, Seth Rollins remains a WWE performer, yet his health status has become questionable since he stated he would come back in time. Dean Ambrose, now known as Jon Moxley, is one of AEW’s biggest stars and has an active contract in the company until 2027; Bray Wyatt died on August 24, 2023, at the age of 36.
