The Brazilian national football team beat India 4-0 in the highly anticipated clash at the VYBK Stadium on 2026-10-05. Chelsea’s Estevao opened the scoring for Brazil before Flamengo’s Pedro and Samuel Dias Lino split the other three goals between them.

India created some opportunities but failed to finish, while Brazil’s defensive unit limited clear chances and forced errors at the back; the Blue Tigers nevertheless earned respect after facing a side 133 places above them in the FIFA Rankings. Khalid Jamil’s team showed phases of organisation but were ultimately undone by clinical finishing from Brazil.

India began in a 4-4-2 that shifted into a 4-2-3-1 when attacking, setting up a compact low block that held Brazil without major openings in the early minutes. Indian defenders repeatedly caught Vinicius and Estevao offside in the opening stages, helping to stifle Brazil’s initial momentum.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, reinstated as first-choice goalkeeper over Vishal Kaith and listed at 34 years old, conceded the first two goals and was substituted at half-time. The Bengaluru FC stopper was described as having been off guard by the power of the shots, and those goals affected India’s momentum going into the break.

Khalid Jamil introduced Prabsukhan Gil at half-time, handing the East Bengal goalkeeper his international debut; Gil made one save in the second half but also conceded two goals. The 25-year-old has been noted for solid recent seasons with East Bengal and Kerala Blasters, and he absorbed the remaining goals after taking over for Gurpreet.

Set-piece delivery emerged as a clear shortcoming: India won six corners, all taken by Anirudh Thapa, but only one of those deliveries created any sort of danger inside the box. Up front Manvir Singh and Ryan Williams combined for six shots with three on target; Manvir had a couple of one-on-one moments with Marquinhos but could not convert, and both forwards along with Ashique Kuruniyan pressed Brazil’s defence throughout under Khalid Jamil’s instructions.

It will not be a surprise if Khalid Jamil chooses to start Prabsukhan against Uruguay on Tuesday.
