Brazil beat India 4-0 in Kolkata friendly

Brazil defeated India 4-0 in an international friendly at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on October 3, 2026, with Samuel Lino scoring his first two goals for the national team.
Chelsea winger Estevao opened the scoring and also provided an assist for a second goal, while the hosts mounted a spirited early resistance. India are ranked 138th in the world and began the match using a low midfield and compact defence, leaving Vinicius Jr unmarked on the left at times and sending long balls to lone forward Manvir Singh.
India's initial tactics had some early success but their efforts faded, allowing Brazil to control the game. Estevao delivered the breakthrough in the 28th minute, cutting in from the right and finishing with a left-footed shot at the near post, then split the defence with a pass for Pedro to finish Brazil's second.
Pedro later set up Samuel Lino for Brazil's third near the hour mark. The 26-year-old Flamengo winger then dribbled past two defenders to complete the scoring just before full time.
A crowd of 51,000 at the Salt Lake Stadium cheered as the visitors wrapped up the match, while India missed opportunities to pull a goal back. Manvir Singh and Ryan Williams failed to convert chances, and India extended their winless run to six matches.
Carlo Ancelotti used the three friendlies to experiment with his squad, making eight changes from Tuesday's (September 29) 4-2 win over Australia and retaining only Vinicius Jr, Danilo and Gabriel Bontempo. The 4-0 win completed Brazil's tour of Australia and India, leaving them with two wins and a draw.
