A seven-member technical delegation from the Brazilian Football Confederation will inspect venues and facilities in Kolkata ahead of Brazil’s friendly against India at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium) on October 3, 2026. The CBF team is due to arrive around midnight on Thursday to carry out the inspections.

The delegation will review hotels, the match venue, training facilities and security arrangements as part of preparations for the fixture. It will begin by visiting two five-star hotels near Kolkata airport on Thursday morning to assess options before Brazil finalises its base. Reports suggest the travelling party could include around 96 members. Ticketing arrangements and other logistics are expected to be discussed during the visit.

Later on Thursday the CBF officials will visit the Salt Lake Stadium to evaluate stadium infrastructure, security measures and other logistical requirements. The playing surface at the venue will receive focused scrutiny during the inspection. These assessments are intended to ensure the venue meets the Brazilian delegation’s operational needs.

The delegation will also inspect the training facilities proposed for the squad and for head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s use during the stay. Brazil are scheduled to arrive in Kolkata on September 30 after playing a match in Australia and are then expected to train in the city on October 1 and 2. The CBF’s findings will inform whether the nominated hotels and training sites are suitable for the Selecao.

Brazil are expected to travel with a strong squad and several high-profile players have been named among those likely to feature, including Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Endrick, while Carlo Ancelotti is also expected to be in charge. “Brazil will come with their full squad (unless anyone gets injured). As things stand, that is the information we have. Carlo Ancelotti is also expected to come,” former India goalkeeper and current national football team director, Subrata Paul was quoted as saying by The Telegraph

A meeting is scheduled for Thursday to discuss ticket prices and other match arrangements, with final prices to be announced only after the Brazilian delegation completes its inspection and submits its report. Some reports have suggested ticket prices could range between ₹2,500 and ₹25,000, although those figures have not been officially confirmed.

India withdrew from the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup after the Brazil fixture created a direct scheduling conflict with the tournament; India had been drawn alongside Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore in Division 1, Group A. The FIFA ASEAN Cup final was also scheduled for October 3, and AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey confirmed India would prioritise the Brazil friendly while pointing to FIFA’s limit of four matches during the international window as another factor in the decision.

Brazil will face India in a friendly on October 3, 2026, at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Brazil are expected to arrive in Kolkata on September 30, after playing a match in Australia.
