Brazil U-20 semi-final at Parque do Sabiá issues 51 red cards, Guinness World Record

A Minas Gerais Under-20 Championship Second Division semi-final between Uberlândia and Mamoré at the Parque do Sabiá in Uberlândia on November 1, 2026, produced a new Guinness World Record after 51 red cards were issued during the match. The game, the first leg of the semi-final, was abandoned following a prolonged on-field brawl.
The melee began in the second half when Mamoré led 3-1 and followed the sending off of Uberlândia’s Luike Bispo dos Santos in the 54th minute. Referee Fernando Patrick reported the violence continued for nearly 40 minutes, during which players and staff became involved in confrontations that overwhelmed match control.
Match officials showed a total of 51 red cards, comprising 43 players and eight members of the two coaching staffs. The referee’s dismissals and the ensuing disorder led to the match being abandoned before its conclusion.
According to reports, members of the home side’s coaching staff and team officials entered the playing area to confront the referee, an action that escalated into a wider clash involving personnel from both teams. Those pitch incursions were central to the outbreak of collective violence.
Witness accounts and the referee’s report state that six ball boys participated in the altercation, throwing punches, delivering kicks and hurling objects at players and members of Mamoré’s coaching staff. Stretchers and chairs were also thrown during the disorder.
The Minas Gerais Military Police (PMMG) attended the stadium after the game to assess vandalism and the aftermath of the incident. The police reported that 14 doors were destroyed and additional damage occurred to stadium facilities.
The 51 red cards recorded at Parque do Sabiá surpassed the previous single-game high of 36, which was set on February 27, 2011, in an Argentine Primera D fixture between Club Atlético Claypole and Victoriano Arenas.
