On 19 September 2026 Brighton & Hove Albion wore a specially commissioned kit for their Premier League home fixture against defending champions Arsenal at the Amex Stadium as the club observed the 125th anniversary of its first match; the Seagulls were also seeking a third league victory of the season.

Brighton traced the milestone to their inaugural competitive fixture on 21 September 1901 and said the anniversary programme had been planned for many months. Anna Easthope, head of marketing, said, “Saturday’s game is one of the highlights of the club’s 125 years celebrations which have been in the planning for many months. “We have seen events celebrating our history, our family, our home, our city and our story over this 125-year programme, culminating in this Premier League match to mark the anniversary of our first competitive game. “So many people have been involved in making this matchday special and we hope the fans and players will enjoy their part in it.”

The matchday kit featured a classic blue top paired with creamy shorts and was modelled on the club’s original 1901 colours; the club confirmed the strip would be worn only for this fixture as part of the 125th anniversary celebrations. Organisers also fitted corner flags bearing a 125th anniversary crest to mark the occasion.

Pre-match entertainment included a live musical performance before kick-off. Brighton made two commemorative collectables available for purchase — a print and an A4 glossy souvenir — and said both items contain historical material related to the club’s past.

The club mascot, Gully, appeared in a special 125th anniversary outfit on the day.

Brighton chairman Tony Bloom addressed the crowd at the Amex, saying, “Good afternoon, and a very warm welcome to the Amex Stadium. “I would like to also extend that welcome to the supporters, players, directors and staff of Arsenal Football Club, who join us today for what is a very special occasion in our history. “Today is a day when we celebrate the 125th anniversary of Brighton & Hove Albion. A day when we can reflect on just how remarkable this football club is. A day when we have good reason not only to look back proudly on our history, but also to appreciate where we stand today, the achievements made, and to look ahead to what comes next.”
