England captain Harry Brook said in Perth on November 07, 2026 that the team will concentrate on improving preparation and fitness ahead of their upcoming white-ball tour of Australia, which includes three ODIs and five T20Is. He described the series as an opportunity to ready the squad for next year’s ODI World Cup in Africas.

The tour will see England play three ODIs and five T20Is against Australia down under, a schedule Brook said the side would use to sharpen skills and raise preparation standards. He emphasised strengthening fitness as a core objective during the campaign and linked the work directly to the World Cup cycle.

“With the World Cup 12 months away, it’s a good period now to really start to try and nestle down, hone the skills and the lessons that we’ve learned,” Brook said.

“The key is to try and be one of the fittest and strongest sides in the world. To be able to try and dominate throughout that competition (World Cup),” he added.

England also faces selection questions ahead of the tour, with the spin-bowling combination requiring decisions from the selectors. Adil Rashid was left out for three matches in Pakistan, with left-arm spinner Liam Dawson being preferred by the team.

The white-ball series in Australia will serve as England’s immediate preparatory assignment ahead of the ODI World Cup in Africas, with Brook stressing fitness and preparation as priorities for the next 12 months.
