His hat-trick versus Real Sociedad occurred in the 2024-25 UEFA Europa League Round of 16, a 4-1 home win, and made him the first Manchester United player to score a hat-trick in a UEFA tournament since Marcus Rashford in 2020.

The latest treble brings Fernandes level with compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of hat-tricks for Manchester United; both players now have three hat-tricks for the club.
